Established in 1979 as Stewart Street Baptist Christian School, we endeavor to build strong Christian character, and well-prepared minds in a loving and concerned environment.
In 1987, we moved to our current location on Highway 90 and became West Florida Baptist Academy, a ministry of West Florida Baptist Church. We are associated with Florida Association of Christian colleges and Schools (FACCS) which is recognized by the State of Florida.
Our School originally started with 76 students and we have endeavored to keep the small school environment over the years. God has blessed, and we are nearing an enrollment of 350 students. Each student is special, and we seek to get to know them and treat them as individuals.
We use a structured, advanced, fully-developed curriculum in a standard classroom setting. Each subject is organized to progress systematically from year to year so that no concepts are left out. Fun and interesting methods keep the classroom exciting and moving towards their goals each year.
Our phonics-based reading program is used in our kindergarten through third grade classes. This system has many of our children reading as early as four years old. It is our goal to have every student reading with understanding and enjoyment by the end of first grade. Most of our children enjoy reading as a pastime as well as a learning technique.
Children learn best in a clean, attractive, and caring environment. We provide for many learning experiences, starting with our kindergarten classes.
WFBC supports training in leadership, teamwork, discipline, perseverance, optimism, and hard work through a competitive sports program. Guys can participate in basketball, and baseball; girls can participate in basketball, volleyball, softball, and cheerleading.
